Nate knows everyone has to die but even after a fatal accident he is just not convinced he is dead. Passed between two very different angels, both trying to convince otherwise, he must traverse heaven, earth and hell looking for the reason on why he hasn`t given up his material form like every human before him.
Okay... I could be writing this for years and pick each word out in slow meticulous manner until I have something that sounds rigid and unlike my voice or I could try and define this by heart. So here it goes.
Nate just wanted to get to school when he is hit by a car, and then told by the angel of death, Azrael, that it`s time to go to Heaven. Except Nate doesn`t feel dead and when he gets there he holds his material form unlike every human before him. Exasperated by his condition Azrael, passes him to his polar opposite, Celest, and angel trying to be a guardian angel to every human she meets.
Without a category to belong to in Heaven, Nate is forced to travel with Azrael and Celest as they do their jobs, not always to Nate`s liking, as he tries to find away to convince them he is still alive. But he discovers instead that Heaven and Hell are resting in a delicate position mirroring one another and that Heaven is not as bright as a human wants to think nor is Hell as dark. Sympathetic by nature, Nate soon gets caught up in the troubles of these world and forgets why he even wanted to return to life in the first place. Besides legend in heaven has it that only one human has ever been exalted to being an angel, and that angel is missing.
Not quite where I want it to be yet but I feel I`m getting somewhere. What if I were to remove Elias from the picture and just make it about Nate. It makes more sense and... I think I`m trying to hard to keep my plot design of when I was 14 alive when it has grown into something so much more than that... But first let`s examine my plot...
Okay key plot element are:
1. Nate is convinced he is not dead and wants to return to life
2. Lucifer wants a chance at redemption
3. Metatron is missing
4. Seraphiel is no longer corresponding with his angels
5. Aerials wants to unite Heaven and Hell so that the can be ruled together
6. Heaven and Hell are fighting for souls to add to their strengths
Okay so... that`s all without even including Elias into the picture so maybe he just isn`t necessary and yeah... so I`m looking at a complete rewrite but if I were to do this then... I could condense this all into one book that I`m really pleased with instead of one third of a trilogy that makes me a little uneasy.
A rewrite could look likes this:
1. Nate dies and is brought to Heaven by Azrael but then passed off on Celest
2. Celest takes him along on her mission to save Gulliver which Nate gets to involved with
3. Nate is passed on to Azrael who takes him along to witness Revelin`s death and then Avaritia, after screwing up royally he is abandoned by Azrael in the river of souls.
4. Nate goes to Eden and meets Uriel. Celest comes up with the idea to go to the library. Jason and then Ritia happen.
5. Nate goes to the libray and ends up in prison by Raguel. Escapes prison and goes to help with Livia. Fails that and ends up in hell because of Azrael.
6. Discovers what he really is and is given the petition for Hell`s redemption.
7. Hears Celest`s prayer and goes to save her.
8. Deals with Hunter...
Oh gods... this is so difficult. I can`t imagine entirely rewriting this... ;_; maybe I should just even forgo the sins. Maybe I just did that to add content and it`s not at all necessary... Suddenly I feel so much further away.
Instead, perhaps I should consider writing that other book: Silver or Koi. Oh if I could just peak into the future to see which way I end up going to put me on the right track!
